Get the best results waxing!

By | Fashion, Uncategorized | No Comments

Maybe you have been waxing for years or finally worked up the courage to go for the first time. Either way here is a few tips to get the most out of your waxing experience;

Grow your hair!-Usually a weeks worth is enough, you want it to be 1/4 inch in length. If you can stand it 3 weeks is even better! Then all three hair cycles will be pulled at once and you will have less regrowth and the next session will be a lot less painful.

Exfoliate!-Use an alula or body brush to remove excess dry skin and help pull up any ingrown hairs.

Reduce pain!-There are so many things you can do to help with pain. Take an ibuprofen. Don’t get waxed 3 days before or after your period. Your skin is most sensitive during this time. Avoid caffeine for 5 hours before getting waxed will greatly reduce sensitivity. Caffeine restricts the blood vessels so skin is not getting as much blood flow which increases sensitivity.

Exfoliate!-Exfoliate using both chemically and with a body brush. This will remove excess skin and prevent hair from getting trapped under the skin.

Take it easy!-Avoid any heavy sweating activities, such as working out, for 24 hours. This will avoid bacteria getting into your recently opened pores.

Make your next appointment!-Each consecutive time you get waxed you will experience less pain and get better results. Pulling your hair from the root will damage the follicle resulting in thinner hair and eventually hair loss.

5 Reasons You Should Start waxing TODAY!

By | Fashion, Uncategorized | 5 Comments

Black and white bikini

Let’s face it, hair removal is a must today. Yes, waxing can be a little painful but totally tolerable and the benefits make it completely worth it.  Compared to shaving it last much longer and will leave you much smoother. Let’s look at the 5 top reasons you need to ditch your razors and start shaving TODAY!

1. It last longer!

Shaving will leave you hairless for a couple of days at best. That is because it is only cutting down the hairs. Waxing removes the entire hair from the root, leaving with results that last up to 6 weeks! How great does that sound when you’re planning your summer vacation?!

2. Less Irritation!

Shaving can cause razor bumps-they look bad, they sting and itch. Waxing done by a professional will leave you smooth, maybe a little tender but for a day at most.

3. No Stubble or shadow!

Because waxing removes the entire hair shaft you will not see regrowth for weeks. Additionally, you are not shaving your hair resulting in a blunt cut. Your hair will grow back thinner and softer than before. If you have fair, thin skin and dark hair you might notice you have a shadow after shaving. This is because your hair root is still under your skin. Waxing completely removes the hair, so no shadow!

4. Hair takes longer to grow back and grows back finer!

Waxing pulls the hair from the follicle. This damages the follicle and hair grows back finer. Eventually, it will even lead to permanent hair loss. Hair grows in three cycles so if you stay consistently after the first time you wax you will really only be removing one-third of your hair.

5. Waxing is good for your skin!

There is literally no alternative benefits to shaving. In fact, there are several hazards. Such as cuts that can lead to scarring or infections. Waxing not only removes the hair but the dead skin-leaving you with the soft smooth look you really want.

Always Beach Ready!

My Great Discovery!

By | Fashion | No Comments

One thing that will instantly boost your confidence while in a bathing suit is a bikini wax!

Whether you’re paddle boarding in Newport or laying out by the pool the last thing you

want to worry about is having missed hairs sneak out the bikini line.. But we get it; we are

California’s and understand this perfectly. Waxing is the best form of hair removal to avoid

such a predicament and always keeping you BEACH READY. We at California Wax

Center have gone around the world to find the best products and techniques to give you the

most effective and painless experience possible. Here are a few more commonly asked

questions about the process;

1. What is a Brazilian wax?

Brazilian waxes differ from regular bikini waxes because hair is removed in the front, back

and everything in between.

2. How long does one appointment take?

On average, it takes 15 – 45 minutes. Regular waxing destroys the hair follicle over time and

can inhibit hair growth and thin the hair. If you are receiving waxing services regularly, the

length of your service will decrease. If you are new to waxing or have any other questions or

concerns, just let us know.

4. How long does my hair need to be before a Brazilian wax appointment?

Hair should be about ¼ inch long for all bikini and body services. A good way to test this is

to see if your hair covers at least half of your pinky fingernail. Most people start to notice a small

amount of re-growth after a week or so, but it may take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a

growth cycle that gives best results. please do not shave the area between your appointments as this

messes with the natural growth cycles, and you’ll be left with stubble. To maintain your smooth

appearance, we recommend regular waxings every 4 to 5 weeks.

5. What happens after a Brazilian wax?

Your esthetician will treat the skin with soothing ingredients to help calm and replenish the

skin. To maintain and achieve optimum results we recommend the following…

Be sure to keep the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and

friction during the next 24 to 48 hours. This means:

 No hot baths or showers (washing with cool or lukewarm water is fine).

 No saunas, hot tubs or steam rooms.

 No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans).

 No sport, gym work or other exercise.

 Avoid touching the waxed skin with unwashed hands.

 Wear clean, loose fitting clothing.

 Avoid swimming.

 Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area, other than

those recommended by your therapist.

To help prevent ingrown or infected hairs use our Serums or Lotions available online or in our salon.

6. What are some useful tips to keep in mind?

The first time may be the most painful, but frequent visits will cut down the pain factor. You

can take an Advil before your appointment. Normally, you can go back every 4-6 weeks.

After more visits, your hair will be thinner and finer.
